A meaningful commitment to building capacity will involve:

  • District alignment of personnel and resources
  • School-wide focus on goals matched to district priorities
  • Practical supports for teachers to implement in the classroom

Different schools will need different levels of support and may target specific areas in year one, phasing in support over time to other areas.

  • Large group trainings for common message
  • Coaching training for in-district PD providers and coaches
  • Integration into administrative meetings as embedded PD
  • On-going collaboration with district leaders to identify needs and leverage outside research and resources
  • Creation of site-specific implementation plans that target school needs

  • In-class lesson study
  • Administrative coaching and support
  • Coaching cycles based on the needs of the school

  • Access to collaborative online networks
  • Customized learning portal integrated into district system
  • Real-time answers to address teacher needs
