Response To Instruction

0 Points

“RtI” offers a way to eliminate the achievement gap through a school-wide process that provides assistance to every student, both high-achieving and struggling learner.” (Jack O’Connell, 2009)

Response to Intervention and Instruction (RtI) is an instructional  framework used nationally that promotes a well-integrated system connecting, general, gifted, supplemental, and special education services to provide a high-quality, standards-based instructional experience that meets the needs of students. The California Department of Education (CDE) has coined the term Response to Instruction and Intervention (RtI) to define a general education approach of high-quality instruction and early intervention, prevention, and behavioral strategies.

We provide technical assistance to districts, schools, and classrooms as the move from policy and conceptualization, to practical, day-to-day implementation. We focus on the core aspects of the RtI model:

  • Comprehensive Assessment
  • Tiered-Approach to Instructional Design
  • Problem-Solving Method

Our support includes:

  • Strategic planning and design at the district and school level
  • Training on assessments and data analysis
  • Support and coaching for a collaborative model of decision-making
  • Training on team facilitation techniques and full implementation of the Collaboration Cycle for Effective Instruction

“A team can develop skills faster if it has an outside facilitator who is trained in techniques for building reflection and inquiry skills, as well as dialogue facilitation.” (Senge, 1994)
